VIDEOGAME

During a coma, a young protagonist journeys through fragmented memories and traumas that shaped different chapters of their life. This original soundtrack explores the ambiguous space between memory and consciousness, capturing the anxiety, vulnerability, and confrontation that emerge when facing the ghosts of childhood.

Developed as a concept for a potential future video game, the project was created by artist and designer Patricio Salazar, with whom I had the opportunity to collaborate during May 2026. The score was developed from the game’s initial concept, narrative, and visual materials, including concept art that helped establish its atmosphere and world.

Because childhood trauma lies at the heart of the game, I wanted the music to reflect the contrast between childhood innocence and the darker psychological experiences of the protagonist. Playful, almost childlike sounds are combined with orchestral and electronic textures, creating a sound world that can shift between curiosity, nostalgia, unease, and fear.

The Main Title establishes the mysterious and unsettling atmosphere of the game, using darker harmonies, electronic textures, and restrained orchestration to evoke the uncertain space between dreams, memories, and consciousness. In contrast, the Final Boss Theme is driven by a large orchestral sound, intense rhythmic writing, and prominent percussion, representing the protagonist’s confrontation with the trauma that has followed them throughout their life.

The orchestral language of the score draws significant inspiration from Igor Stravinsky’s The Rite of Spring, particularly its rhythmic intensity, harmonic language, and approach to orchestral color. These influences are combined with electronic elements and additional timbral experimentation to create a sound that feels both familiar and psychologically distorted.

I am deeply grateful to have collaborated with such a talented artist—and my brother—Patricio Salazar on this project. It was a particularly exciting experience to help translate the concept and visual world of the game into music, and I sincerely hope to see this project developed into a full video game in the future.
