INTROSPECTION

CHAMBER ENSEMBLE
“Introspection” is a seven-and-a-half-minute work written for Hinge Quartet, an ensemble consisting of soprano saxophone, piano, electric guitar, and percussion. The unusual combination of these instruments creates a distinctive sound world in which slow melodic gestures and delicate textural elements interact to form a contemplative and intimate atmosphere. As its title suggests, “Introspection” invites the listener to turn inward and contemplate their own thoughts, emotions, and experiences in the present moment.
Rather than following a defined narrative, the piece encourages the listener to simply exist within the music—to embrace uncertainty, focus on the present, and allow the mind to wander freely as time passes. The music becomes a space for quiet reflection, where subtle changes in timbre, texture, and melody invite us to slow down and reconnect with ourselves. “Introspection” is ultimately an invitation to pause, listen, and experience the present moment.
