“El Tren Sincopado” is a playful jazz composition inspired by the charm, energy, and nostalgia of an old countryside train. Throughout the piece, syncopated rhythms evoke the rhythmic clatter of wheels against the rails, while colorful harmonic clusters and bold musical gestures imitate the unmistakable sound of the train’s whistle. The piece embraces the spontaneity and freedom of jazz, incorporating several sections in which the members of the trio are invited to improvise and interact more freely.
 

These moments of improvisation allow the music to take unexpected turns, much like a train journey unfolding along an unpredictable landscape. Through its fragmented melodies, relentless rhythmic energy, and tense instrumental textures, the piece seeks to evoke the anguish, terror, and helplessness of being unable to find peace while constantly feeling pursued. Rather than depicting a specific event, “Persecución” attempts to give the listener a glimpse into a psychological state that many people are forced to endure.
